Stuart's  June 19 Blog.

Having been away for most of June I haven’t done anything with the Morgan. and have had to rely on sporadic emails to keep in touch with what’s been going on.

Peter Sutherland arranged the first trip of the month and he sent the following report: “Sat 8th June saw a damp and windy visit to see and have guided tour of the Vulcan bomber at Wellesbourne Aerodrome. This has been a well supported event over the last few years but numbers were well down for this year. The pre tour picnic was well received by the Vulcan volunteers  though the BBQ  was missed from last year when the weather was somewhat different! A good and interesting visit which might appeal to other Morgan clubs ."

Denis’s trip to the Langford Cliff Hotel in Dawlish was fully booked but unfortunately two couples were unable to make it.

As usual Denis and Liz had worked hard sorting out routes across Dartmoor taking in places like Widdecombe in the Moor. Disappointingly there was no encounter with the hound from the Grimpen Mire, perhaps next year. On the whole the weather was fine, though Haydn and Dianne timed a passing lorry driving through a deep puddle to perfection and had a good soaking for their reward. On the Tuesday run Rob West’s Plus 8 broke down and ignominiously found its way back to the hotel on a trailer. Rob was up early the next morning and, with the help of a spare ignition coil for one of his other cars, had the car running before breakfast. One of the highlights of the week was a trip from Buckfastleigh to Totnes on the South Devon Railway, the group taking over a complete carriage.

As most of the usual Bridgend Taffmoggers were in Devon I’m not sure if anyone went to the Noggin though despite a large number from the Usk Noggin being on the trip the Noggin there was well attended. There were several new faces in Usk and hopefully they’ll be there again in July.

Jan reports from West Wales: “Well, where to start, it’s all been kicking off in West Wales recently. Des and Emyr have had the engine out of the three wheeler and upgraded the rubber sausages in the centa drive (whatever that means). Mike has bought another Morgan as a doer upper to add to his collection and Brian won a cup at the Mog 19 event. Looks like our permanent meeting place will now be held at the Hollybrook Country Inn, Bronwydd. It has accommodation if anyone wishes to visit. We had a well attended noggin with a nice top off convoy on the way home.”
